Outdoor Pursuits

The wide open countryside of Mid Bedfordshire makes for the perfect place to get out and about to enjoy one of the many outdoor pursuits available including (see menu on the left for all outdoor categories).

Throughout the district is a range of facilities and locations to escape to and enrol in a favourite pastime away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The district has many walkways and footpaths to suit all standards and styles of walkers including short circular walks to the long distance route - the Greensand Ridge that traverses the district. Mid Beds Tourism promotes walking in and around the district via its Events pages, which has details on the different groups that have organised walking events for all abilities.

Cycling Mid Beds is an enjoyable experience when following 'B' roads and country lanes around the towns and villages. In the past, the Tourism Office have organised an annual cycle day called 'Getting into Gear'. In 2004, on June 20th, we revisited the Thatcher's Way, a beautiful 22 mile circular route of easy cycling through the villages and hamlets of Mid Bedfordshire. Please see our cycling section for more detailed routes around the scenic heartlands of Mid Bedfordshire.

Alternatively, why not take a look at Its Great Outdoors website for more ways to enjoy the countryside and beyond!
