Requesting a Local Land Charges Search
The Local Authority search will carry out a search of the Local Land Charge Register for any legal obligations enforceable against the land or property and provides answers to supplementary enquiries.
Standard Search
The standard search comprises a form LLC1 Certificate of Search and the CON29R Enquiries of Local Authority.
LLC1 - This is a search of the Local Land Charges Register only and the fee for this search is £20.00.
CON29 - Part 1 of this form deals with the supplementary enquiries including road and traffic schemes, planning history of the search site, local plan matters, outstanding notices, infringement of building regulations and any pending notices, orders or proceedings.
In addition to the standard enquiries there are 19 optional (Part 2) enquiries which may be submitted with a CON29O, for which an additional fee is payable.

Checklist for a standard search:-
- Two copies of the LLC1 and Con29 forms
- Clear address within the Mid Beds District area
- Three copies of an Ordnance Survey plan showing the boundary of the search site outlined in red
- The correct fee (all cheques should be made payable to Mid Beds District Council)
To request a standard search it is important that all the correct documents and fees are included. It is usual for a Search request to be sent through a Solicitor but the forms can be bought from law stationers. Please note that we can only accept the latest CON29R (2007 edition).
Cancellation of Searches
A refund can only be arranged for a search cancelled the same day it is received in the Local Land Charges office.
