Personal Searches
A Personal Search of the Local Land Charges Register can be made by visiting the Council Offices at Priory House, Chicksands. Appointments are available from Monday to Friday, 11.30am - 3.30pm. These should be booked by telephone with the Local Land Charges team: 01462 611042/611099. A full address and location plan must be provided at time of booking. Plans can be emailed to land.charges@midbeds.gov.uk. Alternatively they can be faxed to 08702 432155.
The fee for a personal search is £11.00. In addition we will provide a printout of all registrable planning permissions revealed against the search address, together with the relevant entries in the Register. A charge of £2.00 will be added to the standard fee to cover our costs. Payment can only be made at these offices in receipt of the information by cheque/debit card. The Council cannot accept cash.
We realise there may be times when you may require a personal seach urgently and where possible we will try to assist you.
Access to Information
To comply with Government guidance issued in January 2008, this Council is committed to provide access to all publicly available records held at the Council and all unrefined data required to complete CON29R enquiries.
The unrefined information is available through the Land Charges team. The team will carry out a search of the planning history records and provide copies of the planning history cards. This should be requested when the appointment is made and there will be an administration charge for this service. The team will also make available all the unrefined information from Environmental Health, Building Control and County Highways needed to compile a property search. If you require this service, please make an appointment with the Land Charges team, allowing 3 working days for the information to be collected. At the time of booking please state clearly the information you require and provide a plan of the search area. Please refer to the charges list for a breakdown of costs.
Building Control
In response to requests for Building Control information from Personal Search agents, Building Control will advise you whether or not Building Regulation Approval has been granted or if a completion certificate has been issued. Building Control will endeavour to respond to your enquiry within 5 working days.
Please note that the Council's computerised records for Building Regulations do not fully extend back before 1 April 2002 and replies will only be given in respect of decisions made since that date. If you require information about any decisions that may have been made prior to that date, records would have to be searched manually at an additional cost of £25.00 per enquiry and you would have to request this information in writing.
Cancellations
We are unable to take cancellations on the day of the appointment. Please give 24 hours notice to avoid any unecessary work being carried out.
