The exhibitions mark the launch of four week consultations on the review of the Woburn, Aspley Guise and Aspley Heath Conservation Areas and the publication of the draft Woburn, Aspley Guise and the Aspley Heath Conservation Area Appraisals and Proposed Boundary Changes consultation drafts.
The appraisals will consider the character, appearance and setting of the conservation area, as well as identifying areas for possible future enhancement, that would benefit the amenity of the conservation areas. The appraisals seek to identify what comprises the special interest of the conservation areas- and contributes to the familiar and cherished local scene and the sense of local distinctiveness, that is so important in defining the identity, harmony and unique sense of place.
There are a number of relatively minor proposed amendments- additions and subtractions- to the conservation area boundary in each village. The conservation area for Aspley Heath was first designated on 15 March 1994, Woburn in April 1973. and for Aspley Guise, first designated in April 1971.
Following consideration of representations and comments received during the consultation period, the Conservation Area Appraisals will be agreed by the Council as Planning Guidance- approved for Development Control purposes, to act as guidance to inform decision-making related to planning and other applications and any proposed highway works.
Anyone unable to attend the exhibitions, can make representations and comments on the Mid Beds website or they can request a printed questionnaire and pre-paid envelope from Mid Beds District Council’s offices at Priory House or by calling 01462- 611 339.
