Bumper Fundraising Year At Mid Beds

Big hearted staff and Councillors at Mid Beds District Council have raised close to £3700 for charity during 2007.

This has been achieved through a number of different events including: a Charity Weakest Link; raffles; cake competitions; auctions;dress down days; coffee mornings and more which between them raised around £2700 for a number of charities including: Comic Relief; Wildlife Trust; Pasque Hospice; MacMillan; Jeans for Genes; Children in Need; Poppy Appeal; Breast Cancer.

A further £1050 has been raised by Mid Beds Chairman Cllr Doreen Gurney. This included a Charity Golf Event in the Summer,  where both Mid Beds staff and staff from local companies including John R Ford Garage and Aragon Housing Association competed for glory on the course.  This event raised over £700. 

The Chairman’s Christmas Concert in December, held a collection at the end of the event attended by staff, councillors and local dignatories, which raised £350 for her chosen charities – Keech Cottage and the Hospice at Moggerhanger.

All this means a staggering £3750 raised for charity at Mid Beds. A considerable achievement for an organisation with under 300 employees.
