Don’t Miss The Bus
People over 60 and people with disabilities in Mid and South Beds are being urged to make sure they don’t miss the bus on Friday 14 December and instead take advantage of the new National Concessionary Travel Scheme being introduced next Spring.
Existing concessionary permit holders will soon receive a letter from either Mid or South Beds District Council, depending on where they live, requesting a new photograph and verification of the personal information that we hold, so that we may issue the new plastic “credit card” style concessionary permits next March.
Mid and South Beds District Councils are working in partnership to deliver a broad range of customer services, including the administration of concessionary travel permits. Both councils must receive the relevant information no later than Friday 14 December, to guarantee delivery of the replacement permits in time for 1 April.
The new national scheme, which begins on 1 April 2008, will allow concessionary permit holders to travel on buses across the country and in some cases trains too after 9.30am. The previous scheme was limited to local transport.
If you are a current permit holder and do not receive your letter by the 3rd December, please contact Customer Services on
Mid Beds 01462 611222
South Beds 01582 472222
Any person who becomes newly eligible for a permit from today, will need to supply two photographs to allow us to process both their concessionary travel permit for up to April 2008 and for the new national scheme permit from April 2008.
