Great News For Over 70s

Residents in Mid Beds aged over 70 can now benefit from home insulation work for FREE, regardless of their income. All they have to do is prove they are over 70.

However Mid Beds are urging people to act quickly, as it is not known how long this Central Government funded opportunity will be available.

Previously all residents seeking home insulation grants had contributions to pay or had to be in receipt of certain benefits to qualify for a 100% grant.  Now residents over 70yrs old can automatically claim  a full grant for improvements to the insulation of their homes to keep the cold out and fuel bills down.

Residents aged under 70 are also encouraged to apply for Home Insulation grants as they may be pleasantly surprised at what help they can get towards the cost and definitely will reap the benefits from lower gas and/or electric bills at a time when fuel price rises are shooting upwards.
 
Councillor Budge Wells, Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services said: “This is marvellous news for many of our residents.  However the Government hasn’t gone far enough.  I feel this offer should be available to all pensioners, not just those over 70.  I hope that as many of our older residents as possible take up this opportunity while it lasts and let their friends know who may not already be aware of this offer.”
