ASBO For Nuisance Woburn Couple

Mid Beds District Council successfully secured Interim ASBOs against a notorious couple from Woburn at Bedford Magistrates Court on Friday afternoon (11 April).

Linda Cook and David McGhee, both previously subject to ASBOs whilst living in the Milton Keynes area will now have to curb their behaviour or face prison.

Case History
In 2007, Ms Cook was homeless and Aragon Housing Association found her a property in Woburn. Whilst living at Woburn Ms Cook and Mr McGhee drank heavily and had many, sometimes violent, arguments.

The local elderly residents became alarmed and frightened. Some even moved out of their homes to stay with relations for safety and assurance.

The Police attended the address many times and both were made the subjects of Anti-Social Behaviour Injunctions brought by Aragon Housing Association.

Mr McGhee breached his injunction on three occasions and is currently serving a  custodial sentence imposed by Milton Keynes County Court.

Graham Caves, Mid Beds District Council’s Anti Social Behaviour Reduction Coordinator said following Friday’s hearing:
“The Anti Social Behaviour Orders obtained today demonstrate that Mid Beds District Council will not tolerate behaviour such as demonstrated by Ms Cook and Mr McGhee and will take whatever action is necessary to protect the community, especially the elderly vulnerable people living close by.
This has been a good example of Partnership Working between the local authority, Police and Aragon Housing Association.”
