Help us set next year’s spending in Mid Beds

Let us know what you think!

Mid Beds District Council currently sets the 15th lowest district council tax in the country and is rated as a “good” council by independent inspectors.  Looking ahead to 2008, we can already see that our grant from Government will mean that we cannot expect our overall spending on services to rise very much.

David Sutherland, Chief Finance Officer, said

“As there is only a fixed pot of money, any increase in expenditure must be balanced by reductions elsewhere. To help Mid Beds set its priorities for 2008/2009 we are asking local residents to take a few minutes to let us know their priorities."

"The November issue of Mid Beds’ Horizon magazine will include a short form on which people can mark their top three choices for increasing spending, but this must also be balanced by indicating their three choices for reducing spending. These forms should be returned by 31 December 2007 and the results will help councillors decide their spending priorities for 2008/2009.”
