Central Beds Unitary plan available online
Local people can now visit the Mid Beds website to see how the two councils propose to bring together their and the County Council’s services to improve services and make savings. The plans were submit to the Department for Communities and Local Government on Friday 14 December ahead of their 17 December deadline.
Listed below are the unitary bid documents submitted jointly by Mid Beds District Council and South Beds District Council:
Tricia Turner Leader of Mid Beds said: “We have now submitted our proposals to Government and expect to have an early announcement of the way forward after that. We invited the County Council's endorsement of the proposals and are disappointed they did not contribute.
“Both districts feel it is crucial for our citizens, services and staff that we work together with both Bedford Borough and Bedfordshire County to ensure a smooth transition to these two new unitary authorities producing a better deal for all citizens, taxpayers, and customers in Bedfordshire.”
