Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places
Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places
The Law requires the District Council to carry out a review of Polling Districts and Polling Places before 31 December 2007.
A Polling District is a geographical area and all of the electors within that area are included on the same section of the Register of Electors and go to the same Polling Station to vote.
A Polling Place is an area within the Polling District, of sufficient size to be identified by electors. It is where the Returning Officer will provide one or more polling stations at each election.
For details of all existing polling districts, polling places and polling stations please click here.
The purpose of this review is to ensure that:-
- the area of each Polling District is still relevant;
- within each Polling District the Polling Station is in the most convenient place possible; and
- so far as is reasonable and practicable, all Polling Stations are accessible to all electors, including those with any type of disability.
The results of the review will be considered on behalf of the Council by the Remuneration and General Purposes Committee on 20 November 2007. To enable reports and information to be prepared for consideration at the meeting, any person who wishes to make representations concerning the area of any Polling District or the location of any Polling Place or Polling Station, should do so in writing by no later than 31 October 2007. Please click here to see the Public Notice concerning this matter including the address and email details for the submission of any representations.
