Have Your Say

Your views are important to Mid Beds District Council and there are a variety of ways you can have your say. You can help us to find out more about what you think about our policies and services by taking part in the consultations we feature on this page. You can play your part in influencing decisions that affect you, your friends, family and neighbours. We really do want to hear what you think of the services we provide. Homes And Jobs Consultation

Everyone in the district is being given the opportunity to have their say on which sites should be selected so that Mid Beds can meet government targets for future housing, as well as targets for employment in Mid Bedfordshire. For further information see the press release for details of exhibitions taking place in your area or visit the external website:

Local Development Framework (LDF) Online Consultation

Make your views on LDF documents known by using LDF Online Consultation. LDF Online Consultation allows LDF documents to be displayed on the web with the ability for you to make online representations relating to a particular part of a document. Representations, once accepted by MBDC, can be viewed online in their entirety or in an edited form, allowing you to view all representations referring to a particular document. Please access the following link for further information:

Community Safety Fora

To bring the focus of the Mid Beds Community Safety Partnership to a very local level in our Towns and Villages we aim to launch a Community Safety Forum in every local area. These meetings will provide an opportunity for local residents who are concerned with crime, anti social behaviour, or any community safety related issue in their local community to raise these concerns first-hand to local representatives from the agencies that form the Community Safety Partnership. Ongoing Surveys

The following surveys are currently online. We would be grateful if you would take a few minutes to send us your feedback:

Get Involved - Have your say at council meetings

All residents can speak to councillors at Mid Beds District Council meetings and make their views known. You can speak about any of the items on the public part of the agenda, either just before that item is discussed or at the start of the meeting. You can also make a comment at the beginning of the meeting or ask the chairman a question, which must be relevant to that committee’s responsibility. If you can let us have your question in advance it will help you receive an informative answer at the meeting. You can speak at meetings of the Council, the Executive, Overview Committee, Scrutiny Committee, Ethics and Standards Committee, Licensing Committee, Regulation Committee, and Remuneration & General Purposes Committee (except on staffing matters). Each speaker has three minutes in which to air their views and only three speakers can normally speak on any one item. If a group of people feel strongly about a subject, it is best to get together and appoint a spokesperson. Your local town or parish council also has the opportunity to speak, so let it know how you feel.

For further details on committees, please call John Phillipson on 01462 611 034 or email john.phillipson@midbeds.gov.uk

If there is an issue you would like to see tackled, why not contact the Overview and Scrutiny Team and make a suggestion, or contribute to a review, please telephone Bernard Carter on 01462 611 175 or email bernard.carter@midbeds.gov.uk

Meeting dates and times are available here, you are advised to check nearer the time as times and dates can be subject to change. All meetings take place at the Council's headquarters in Chicksands.

Residents' Panel "BedsVoice"

In 2007 Mid Beds joined with South Bedfordshire District Council, Beds County Council, the Police Authority and the Fire and Rescue Service to form the Bedfordshire Consultation Group and establish “BedsVoice” a countywide residents panel. The first survey was sent out in July 2007.
