Mid Beds Local Strategic Partnership (LSP)
Local Strategic Partnerships (LSPs) are non-statutory, multi-agency partnerships, which matches local authority boundaries. LSPs bring together at a local level the different parts of the public, private, community and voluntary sectors; allowing different initiatives and services to support one another so that they can work together more effectively.
The concept of LSPs was first introduced as a result of the Local Government Act 2000. In 2006 the Local Government Act 2006 reconfirmed its commitment to LSPs and acknowledged the role of local authorities as community leaders and places on them the responsibility to produce and with its partners deliver a Sustainable Community Strategy, that addresses the issues of social, environmental and economic well being of an area.
The Mid Beds Local Strategic Partnership was established in 2002. It brings together key organisations as a Steering Group with a remit of working together, enabling resources to be better used, duplication minimised and the aspirations, needs and priorities of the community better met.
Mid Beds Local Strategic Partnership Steering Group meets on a quarterly basis to discuss items of mutual concern affecting all partner organisations.
Its purpose is to:
- Work with the community to identify needs and priorities;
- Identify gaps in current and planned provision of services;
- Identify ways in which, in partnership, these gaps will be bridged;
- Prepare and deliver a community plan which reflect these gaps.
The LSP Steering Group meetings are open to all and can be attended by others with an interest in the work of the Partnership. A Schedule of Meetings is published in advance on these web pages.
Various other groups of the Partnership work to support the Steering Group, including the LSP Officer Group and thematic groups or Priority Working Groups as they are now known. Please view/download the following LSP Partnership Structure Chart for more information.
