Anti Fraud and Corruption Policy

This is the Anti Fraud and Corruption Policy

Mid Bedfordshire District Council takes its duty to ensure proper stewardship of public money very seriously. The Council is therefore committed to the prevention, and detection of all forms of fraud and corruption, both from within and outside the organisation. It requires its Members and employees to act honestly, with integrity and to safeguard any public resources for which they are responsible.

The purpose of an anti fraud and corruption policy is to help define what fraud and corruption is; summarises the responsibilities of its Members and employees to prevent fraud and corruption; and the procedures to be followed where fraud or corruption is detected or suspected.

This Council has historically had a low instance of fraud and corruption. This in part is demonstrated by strong internal controls and the right culture within the workforce.  A strong anti fraud and corruption policy assists this process.

Mid Bedfordshire District Council has had in place an anti fraud and corruption policy for many years.  This policy is reviewed / updated periodically, to ensure it remains appropriate to meet the needs of the Council and contributes in part to good corporate governance.
