Web Site Availability and Visitor Statistics

Shows information about, website server up time, numbers of visits, how they came to the site, what they were looking for etc

We have been collecting information about visits to the Mid Beds website since June 2003, when the current website first came online.

Website Availability Monitoring:

The website is automatically monitored every 15 minutes so we can try to ensure web services are available 100% of the time. You can view our monitoring statistics here (link to external website).

Website Visitor Statistics:

Visitor information is also available as a series of monthly reports at the bottom of this page - these are in Adobe Acrobat format so you will need Adobe Reader to be able to view them (link to download Adobe Reader)

It is important to restate that we do not identify individual visitors in these reports and that information collected is in line with the Data Protection Act.

The monthly reports show an overview of 'headline' activity by visitors to the website. These headline figures include:

Total number of visitors to the site for a particular month - these are unique 'sessions' although they may be the same person returning to our site within the time period. For example if a visitor logs onto the Mid Beds website four times in one day that is counted as four separate visits, although it is the same visitor. See also the graph further down.
The average time visitors spend on site (in seconds)
The Top 10 Referrers - these are usually the Search Engine (for example Google, Yahoo etc) that has found our site in response to a search request by the user; but may also be a hyperlink from another website to ours (for example from www.bedfordshire.gov.uk - the Beds County Council website)
The top 10 Search Queries - these are the "keywords" or words and/or phrases a visitor puts into their Search Engine (for example Google) that results in a visit to our site.
The top 10 most frequently visited web pages (although it is almost inevitable that the Home page will always be No 1 !)
The top 10 exit pages - these are the last page a visitor looked at before leaving the website.

Reports in Adobe Acrobat format for the last few months are available for downloading at the bottom of this page - we will add to the list as further reports become available.

Website Visitor Sessions - Monthly since June 2003

The graph below illustrates how the current website has steadily attracted increasing numbers of visits since it went online in June 2003. Figures are for visitor 'sessions' in a calendar month. This counts each visit as unique even though it may be the same visitor.

Please note: We changed over to a new web server during Feb-Mar 2005 - unfortunately some website visitor information was lost during the transfer - the figures for Feb-Mar 2005 are therefore estimated from available information.
