Wild and Worldly
From the wilds of Africa to the crisp fresh air of Switzerland come and experience the worldwide delights all found in Mid Bedfordshire – where passports are not required.
Your worldly tour of the area commences in Africa – when you discover the wilds of Woburn Safari Park. Here you can enjoy a leisurely journey around and through the open reserves of the parkland now home to lions, tigers, rhinos, giraffes, wolves and more. The Wild Watch Area buzzes with its mix of entertainment and close encounters with wallabies, squirrel monkeys, birds of prey and the magic of sea lion cove. Then make for the slopes of Woburn for a touch of tobogganing – Kilamanjara it isn’t – but it's great fun all the same.
Next head off to France – Wrest Park Silsoe and the magnificent French style mansion which acts purely as the grand entrance to over 90-acres of landscape and ornamental gardens. The gardens are open to view on weekends and bank holidays only, and often host special events throughout the summer months.
From Wrest Park we keep on the European trail, first passing through our very own Ireland en route to Old Warden and a touch of Switzerland. Old Warden is a picturesque village recreated in the Swiss style, in the early 19th century by Lord Ongley. Amongst his architectural and landscape achievements is the ornamental Swiss Gardens a unique project created and dedicated as a gift of love to his Swiss mistress. A magical and enchanting way to end your day.
