The headquarters of the R.S.P.B. is based at Sandy. It is Europe’s largest wildlife conservation charity. The headquarters, a Victorian mansion, is situated in a 445 acre nature reserve of heath and woodland. The grounds surrounding the house are often described as the most picturesque in the county with hills and valleys, woodlands of pine and oak, formal gardens and a lake. The reserve has 2.5 miles of tow trails with more being planned; a bird watching hide and a shop.
