Statement of Community Involvement

Mid Bedfordshire’s Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) was adopted on 22nd February 2006.

The Statement of Community Involvement sets out the Council’s main standards for community participation. There is a government requirement to ensure all sectors of the population of Mid Bedfordshire and all relevant bodies and Agencies have the opportunity to engage in the future planning of the District. This requirement comes from new planning legislation, which proposes a system known as the Local Development Framework. The Local Development Framework comprises a series of documents which in time will replace the Local Plan.

To summarise, the Statement of Community Involvement outlines how we intend to consult people, who we intend to consult and finally, at what stage in the process we will consult, during the preparation of the Local Development Framework.

The Council's Executive resolved to adopt the SCI on the 22nd February 2006. The formal Notice of Adoption and the adopted SCI are available to download see links below.
