Inspectors Report

The Mid Bedfordshire Local Plan: First Review was placed on statutory deposit in November 1997. Over 3,600 objections and supporting representations were received.

The Council formally considered the objections in October and November 1998. Pre-Inquiry Changes to the deposited Local Plan were published in January and April 1999 and themselves generated nearly 400 objections and supporting representations.

A Public Local Inquiry was convened, sitting between 27 April 1999 and 19 December 2000.

A joint session was also held with the Inspector appointed to the Bedford Borough Local Plan Inquiry on 7th December 1999 to consider objections to the proposed new settlement focused on Elstow Storage Depot and which straddles the administrative boundary of the two authorities.

The Inspector's Report was received by the Council on Thursday 26th September 2002. The Inspector's Report is not a consultation document. The Council was obliged to formally consider each of the Inspector's recommendations to determine whether or not modifications will be required to the deposited Local Plan.
