Core Strategy and Development Management Policies

The Core Strategy and Development Management Policies Development Plan Document (DPD) is an over-arching policy document within the Local Development Framework (LDF).

Settlement Envelope documents

The Core Strategy deals with the broad strategy for development in the Mid Beds District up to 2021, including the broad locations for proposed growth. The Development Management document provides the policy framework against which decisions on planning applications will be made. The Development Management document also includes the process of revising Settlement Envelopes.

Where are we now?

We are now at the Draft Submission stage.

This is the third stage in preparing the document and the last opportunity for you to comment on the document; the first stage was the "Issues and Options" and the second stage was the “Preferred Options”.

Your comments at this stage should relate to whether the document is "sound".

Your comments regarding the soundness of the document will be considered by an inspector at examination.

Formal submission to the Secretary of State is expected in February 2009.

Current Consultation: Draft Submission Document

The draft submission version of the Core Strategy & Development Management Policies will be published for a six week period.

Starting on the 13 October 2008 and finishing on 24 November 2008.

The deadline for comments on the Core Strategy and Development Management Polices Development Plan Document is 5pm on Monday 24 November 2008.

The deadline for comments on the Milton Keynes Strategic Development Areas Study and related sections of the Core Strategy is Monday 15 December 2008.

No late comments will be accepted.

How can you get involved?

You can make comments online, using the online facility;
All Documents are available to view and download below, including supporting Technical Reports and Appendices;
The Settlement Envelope revisions can be viewed on the Settlement Envelope page;
The documents can be viewed at the Council Offices and Points of Prescence in Biggleswade and Ampthill (opening times from 8.45am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8.45am to 4pm on Friday;
The documents can be viewed at the main libraries across the District (opening times vary).
