Aspley Guise Conservation Area Appraisal and Review

A review of the Aspley Guise Conservation Area & the publication of the draft Aspley Guise Conservation Area Appraisal & Proposed Boundary Changes consultation draft was launched on Saturday 12 January with a public exhibition held at the Aspley Guise Village Hall, Woburn Lane.

The consultation period ran from 12 January for 4 weeks (until 9 February) and is now closed.

The appraisal will consider the character, appearance & setting of the conservation area, as well as identifying areas for possible future enhancement, that would benefit the amenity of the conservation area. The appraisal seeks to identify what comprises the special interest of the conservation area- & contributes to the familiar & cherished local scene & the sense of local distinctiveness, that is so important in defining the identity, harmony & unique sense of place.

There are a number of relatively minor proposed amendments- additions & subtractions- to the conservation area boundary, that was defined when the conservation area was first designated in April 1971.

Following consideration of representations & comments received during the consultation period the Aspley Guise Conservation Area Appraisal will be agreed by the Council as Planning Guidance- approved for Development Control purposes, to act as guidance to inform decision-making related to planning & other applications & any proposed highway works.
