Arboricultural Services
The main responsibilities of the Arboricultural Service are;
- To manage the trees standing on areas of amenity land that falls under the responsibility of the District Council;
- To provide advice to Planning Officers in relation to the effect of new development upon trees;
- To make new Tree Preservation Orders;
- To determine applications to carry out works to trees protected by a TPO;
- To determine applications to carry out works to trees in Conservation Areas;
- To process applications, under the Hedgerow Regulations 1997, to remove a hedgerow; and
- To issue remedial notices in cases of high hedges brought to the Council by a complainant.
Procedure for reporting problems with trees:
For trees in grass verges adjacent to highways, please contact Beds County Council Highways Helpline on 01234 228661.
Some trees in amenity land are the responsibility of Town or Parish Councils, Housing Associations or the District Council. In the first instance it may be advisable to contact your Town or Parish Council
