Schools Sportshall Athletics
Each year the Mid Beds Sports Development Team promote sporthall athletics amongst the middle schools in the district by organising and running a schools competition. It gives young people the opportunity to take part in athletics in a fun and safe environment.
This year we offered the schools a six week training programme, which allowed children to be coached and have lots of practice of the events that they could be participating in on the day. With many of the schools taking part in the sessions these were either after school or a lunchtime programme.
The competition is split into two halfs of the district, the East and the West side. With a final at the end of all the competitions.
The Under 11's (year 5 & 6) East side competition took place on Tuesday 21st November 2006 at Robert Bloomfield Middle School. Eight schools attended the event which included Burgyone, Edward Peake, Etonbury, Gamlingay, Henlow, Holmemead, Robert Bloomfield and Sandye Place. Over hundread children took part in the competition.
