Regional Sportshall Athletics Competition 2007

On Saturday 3rd February, a team from Bedfordshire travelled to Norwich to compete in the Regional Sportshall Athletics Competition. The team consisted of athletes from South Beds, Active Luton and Mid Beds. Two age groups were taken: the Under 13's and Under 15's. There were six teams competing in the competition, which included (ourselves), Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

UNDER 13 GIRLS

1st - Norfolk (657)
2nd - Essex (655)
3rd - Hertfordshire (552)
4th - Cambridgeshire (405)
5th - Suffolk (388)
6th - Bedfordshire (363)

Some of the Under 13 Girls came back with some medals for certain events:

  • Dissie Dixon got bronze in speed bounce
  • Sophie Hales got bronze in standing triple jump
  • Sylvie Dole got two silvers one form the six lap individual race and the standing long jump

UNDER 13 BOYS

The Under 13 boys came back with lots of medals with some great efforts from the day:

  • Jordan Smallin got two silvers one from the two lap race, the other from the standing triple jump
  • Greg Bush got a gold in the standing long jump
  • Jack Bonham got a silver in the shot throw
  • Josh Dudley got a bronze in the two lap race
  • James Burton got a silver in the six lap individual race
  • Ashley Boness got a gold in the four lap race

The Under 15's girls team only had three girls due to people pulling out on the day, this meant that the team could not enter any relays, which resulted in lost points for the girls. They made great efforts in all other events.

It was a long day for all the children, staff and spectators. Thank you to all the children who took part, and the parents/guardians who came and cheered them on in their events. A big thank you to all team managers of the day.
