When, where and how do I vote for an election?
When an Election has been called, every registered elector will receive a poll card which includes hours of poll, location of their polling station and the number of candidates for whom they may vote. Electors do not have to take the polling card to the Polling Station.
Please note that electors who have asked for a postal vote will not receive a poll card.
On polling day the normal hours of voting are:
- for a Local Election (District and/or County) the hours are between 7am and 10pm.
- for a Parliamentary Election the hours are between 7am and 10pm.
- for a European election the hours are between 7am and 10pm.
Staff on duty at the polling station will help any elector who is not sure what to do or who requires assistance to mark the ballot paper. Staff are however unable to give guidance as to the party or candidate for whom an elector should vote.
