FAQ - Food, Health and Safety

Here is the answer to the question you selected. If this answer doesn't answer your question, you can do the following:

I have a private drinking water supply, does it need testing?

If you use a private water supply (e.g. from a well, borehole, lake, resevoir, spring etc.) for drinking water rather than a mains supply provided by Anglian Water then Environmental Services need to know about it as we have a duty to monitor the quality of private drinking water supplies within our district.

If we find that a private supply does not meet legal standards then we may require improvements to be made to the supply or if this is not possible, an alternative supply to be found. The frequency with which known private supplies are sampled depends on the type of premises and the number of persons served by it.

If you have a private drinking water supply then please contact Environmental Services on 08452 304040 or at Environmental.Services@midbeds.gov.uk
