Must staff wear gloves / hats when serving food?
There is no legal requirement for staff to wear these items. It can be good practice but a lot depends on the risks associated with certain practices within a food business. For instance a member of staff could be wearing gloves but then does not change them between handling raw chicken and handling a salad. Clearly someone without gloves who washes their hands thoroughly between handling different food types such as this is much less likely to cause food contamination/poisoning.
The onus is on businesses to assess the risks associated with their activities and to take steps to minimise those risks.
