I want to report someone selling out of date food. Who should I contact?
Please contact Environmental Services on 08452 304040. They will advise you of the different dates found on food, and if there is anything we can do. Selling items beyond their "use by" date is illegal because they could cause harm if consumed after this date. Selling items beyond their "best before" date is not illegal, but it is not good practice as it indicates poor stock control. The "best before" date is an indicator of when the quality of the product may begin to deteriorate, and does not relate to the safety of the product.
