Cavity Wall and Loft Insulation Grants
If you have a cavity wall that does not currently have insulation, or your loft insulation does not meet the current standard of 10” (250mm) thickness then you may wish to enquire about grants for cavity wall and loft insulation.
Clients aged 70 years or over, or those in receipt of any of the following benefits will be entitled to a 100% grant for cavity wall insulation only, and therefore will not need to make a contribution towards the cost of this work. However, at present 100% grants are not available for loft insulation regardless of personal circumstance and therefore clients would be required to pay a contribution towards such work. Some energy suppliers are still able to offer clients aged 70 or over, or those on the following benefits 100% grants for loft insulation and therefore you may wish to check with them first.
- State Pension Credit
- Income Support
- Income-based Job Seekers Allowance
- Housing Benefit
- Council Tax Benefit
- Attendance Allowance
- Disability Allowance
- Disablement Pension (must include constant attendance allowance)
- War Disablement Pension (must include mobility supplement or constant attendance allowance)
- Child Tax Credit (with income below £15,465)
- Working Tax Credit (with income below £15,465 )
Those clients aged under 70 years and not in receipt of one of the above benefits will be required to pay a contribution towards the cost of loft or cavity wall insulation. Contributions are subject to survey and confirmation by the contractor - Miller Pattison. Although the grant level is variable it tends to be about 50% of the cost of the work thus leaving a contribution of about 50%.
