Home Maintenance

For the majority of people their house is the largest investment they will ever make. It makes sense, therefore to ensure that it is kept in the best possible condition. The "Home Maintenance Booklet" (which can be viewed by clicking on the appropriate download) has been developed to help you to identify the major elements of your home and to help you to understand why it pays to maintain your home regularly. Designed in sections it aims to help you to check the condition of your house and outlines the best way to tackle possible defects.

Take note that you should take no unnecessary risks with your health and safety and if you are in any doubt at all - Leave it to the professionals.

Contractor List

Finding a reliable contractor to carry out building work can be difficult for some people, particularly the vulnerable and the elderly. Local community groups involved with the elderly and disabled have highlighted the difficulty some people experience when trying to find reliable contractors. It was felt that the existence of a list of reputable contractors would help householders avoid irresponsible builders by offering them the opportunity of employing contractors who are correctly trained, provide good quality work, and who meet a set of formal criteria. Therefore, Mid Beds DC has decided to publish a list of contractors with this aim in mind.

If you are considering works to historic buildings then please contact the Conservation & Design Team on 01462-611222 to discuss the repairs and seek advice on appropriate specialist building contractors.
