Mid Beds DC Sandbag Policy

The MBDC Sandbag policy was agreed at the meeting of the Executive on the 10th of September 2003.

The MBDC policy with regard to the provision of sandbags for flooding incidents is:

  1. To provide empty sandbags for collection in an emergency from this Council's offices, together with information in relation to the locality of sand.
  2. To provide a supply of empty sandbags to willing Town and Parish Councils, to use their discretion against the effects of flooding.
  3. To collect sandbags that have become contaminated through contact with flood water.
  4. To provide a supply of filled sandbags to the Fire and Rescue services for use at the incident commanders discretion. MBDC will not provide any sandbags for protection of commercial properties.
