Recycling, Composting, and Tidy Tips

Recycling and composting helps us to protect the environment by reducing the amount of waste that goes to incinerators or landfill sites.

Mid Beds District Council provides a kerbside recyclable material collection scheme, and "Bring Sites" for recyclable materials not collected by the kerbside scheme. In addition to these recycling schemes, glass recycling banks can be found across the district. Lists showing the locations of the bring sites and glass recycling banks can be downloaded from this webpage.

Bedfordshire County Council provides two Household Waste Recycling Centres situated within Mid Bedfordshire District. These are located at:

Bells Brook, Biggleswade Tel: 07167 313684

Sites are open 7 days a week, 9am- 5pm. (Sept - April); 9am - 7pm (May - Aug) Please pre-sort your waste before you get to the site and ensure you arrive at least 10 minutes before closing time.

(Sites are closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day and close at 1pm on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve).

You may be required to obtain a permit before you enter the sites. This depends on the type of waste you want to deposit and the vehicle you are using. The permits are totally free of charge but must be obtained before you visit the site.
