Unhappy with your Bill?

If you think your bill is wrong

There are many things that determine the amount of your Council Tax Bill. The amount you pay may be affected by an entitlement to benefit, an exemption from the tax, a discount or disability relief.

If you have recently received a Bill from us and you do not think it is correct or you think you may be entitled to any of the above, or you are unhappy with the way your bill has been calculated and would like it explained, you should contact us as soon as possible in order that we can look at it for you.

If you are entitled to benefit, you will have already received notifcation of the amount.  You can view the procedures for formally appealing against your benefit entitlement here.

If however, you would like to appeal against the decisions we have made about who is liable for the tax in your household, or the lack of any exemption, discount or disability relief, you can do so by completing the appeal form available via the link on the right of this page and returning it to the address at the top of the form.

Wen we receive your appeal

We will look at the circumstances again and advise you of our decision. If you are still unhappy with that decision your case will be referred to the Valuation Tribunal for their consideration.

Information about exemptions and discounts can be found by selecting the link "Exemptions and Discounts" on the left of this page
