Appealing against your Valuation Band

Information about appealing against your valuation band.

 

The Valuation Office Agency [VOA] are solely responsible for determining the valuation band of your property. If you think your home should be in a different valuation band, or require information about property banding, please write to;

Appeals are restricted to the following:

New Taxpayers 

If you have just moved in, you have six months from occupation to appeal. If you have moved into a newly built property, you have six months to appeal from the date it was allocated a valuation band by the Valuation Office Agency.

Existing Occupiers

If there has been a change to your home due to building work or demolition or a change in the physical state of the local area.

If you appeal you must continue to pay Council Tax. If your appeal is successful, you will be entitled to a refund of any overpaid tax.
