Community Safety
The Community Safety Team aims to make the district of Mid Beds a safe place in which to live, work and visit. The team works directly with the public and also with a diverse range of organisations brought together in the Mid Beds Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership to co-ordinate the delivery of its strategy for the reduction of crime, drugs and anti-social behaviour and to reassure the public reducing the fear of crime.
The team has many responsibilities to implement the strategy and targets which are set nationally to reduce crime and also manages the Council's CCTV system and co-ordinates volunteer groups who wish to form Community Safety Groups in their local areas.
For more information about the work of the Community Safety team contact Dave Rollings on 01462 611225, or email on david.rollings@midbeds.gov.uk
We also have a new Youth and Community Safety Officer, Jane Regan, who started on the 28th April 2008. Jane can be contacted on 01462 611112 or via email: jane.regan@midbeds.gov.uk
Community Development
We work closely with our eight voluntary sector key partners to deliver a range of support services across the district. This is in addition to the partnership work we do to reduce health inequalities in the five year Healthy Living Initiative; the development of the Compact; a Credit Union for Mid Beds; and our Key Partners.
For more information on Community Development contact Jill Dickinson on 01462 611258, or email jill.dickinson@midbeds.gov.uk
Youth Work
The Council employs a Youth Participation Officer and a Youth and Community Safety Officer, to work with young people across the district in youth led projects aimed at the active encouragement of youth and community involvement and community safety.
The officers aim to involve young people in the work of the council, to take part in consultations and to guide the work that we do as a service and council. They aim to involve young people by innovative and accessible means, to provide information to their peers about our projects, the work of the council and other youth services through websites, newsletters and other promotion work. The Youth Participation Officer also administers the transport token scheme, providing subsidised travel for young people in the district to attend youth involvement activities.
For more information about the projects, services and activities see Youth Work page or contact Katy Henman on 01462 611008, or email katy.henman@midbeds.gov.uk or Youth and Community Safety page or contact 01462 611225.
