Supporting People

Supporting People

Supporting People is a Government programme, which came into effect in April 2003. Supporting People are a body at Bedfordshire County Council, which provides funding to housing related support services for vulnerable adults. The Supporting People programme aims to provide Housing Related support services that improve the quality of life of vulnerable adults by supporting them with day-to-day tasks.

The Housing related support service often compliments other services provided by other agencies such as the Health Authority, Housing Associations, the Probation Service, and some charities.

Mid Beds’ Role in Supporting People

Although Bedfordshire County Council provides the Supporting People service, Mid Beds District Council does have an input into how the Supporting People Services are provided as a member of the Supporting People Commissioning Body.

The Supporting People team report directly to the Commissioning Body who are a group of stakeholders who have the final say in what services are commissioned in line with local priorities and needs.
