Youth and Community Safety

Welcome to the Youth and Community Safety area of the Mid Beds website, this area is aimed at parents, teachers, youth workers and young people.

Activities and opportunities for young people are also available at www.funkeemunkee.co.uk look for the Y-Zone.

The post of Youth and Community Safety Officer sits between the Community Development and Community Safety teams. It was created in 2004 to support the youth involvement programme and many of the initial projects and work areas came directly from the Young, Fun and Vocal Youth Convention 2002, which was run by Mid Beds District Council and young people from around the district.

The areas of work include:

• Supporting organisations who work with young people at risk of offending, social or school exclusion or young people in the care system
   
• Setting up and supporting young people groups who address Community Safety in its widest form. The groups are district wide and cover inter-generational work, anti-social behaviour, public reassurance and image of young people, plus environmental safety  
   
• Development of young people's involvement in the Community Safety Groups. Sharing the agenda, minutes and discussions with geographic groups of young people and feeding back comments and viewpoints to the Community Safety Groups.
